Support Center for Prison Advocacy

The Support Center for Prison Advocacy is a new project uniting people and organizations that are most impacted by the criminal justice system so that we can all work together to support each other and build safer more vibrant communities.

The Support Center for Prison Advocacy emerged as a partnership of Kingdom Care Reentry Network, the Institute for the Study of Civic Values and Philadelphia FIGHT.

At present, the Support Center for Prison Advocacy is guided by:

    * More than ten years prison reentry experience of Kingdom Care Reentry Network, the Institute for the Study of Civic Values and Philadelphia FIGHT.

    * Leadership of the Philadelphia Prison System's Office of Community Justice and Outreach.

    * Advise and participation from former Councilman and Housing Director Edward Schwartz.

*Expertise of formerly imprisoned community leaders.

    * Experiences of family members who are imprisoned along with their loved ones who are serving county, state, or federal time.

The Support Center for Prison Advocacy aims to stimulate further community participation, without which it will be difficult for the city to respond to the reentry crisis that we face.
